Indian athlete Pinki Pramanik, who has been accused of rape and assault by a woman, is a male, according to a police chargesheet presented before a West Bengal court on Monday on the basis of her medical test report by board of doctors, said media.
The police on the basis of the medical test report filed a chargesheet in a Barasat court and charged Pinki with cheating and rape.
As per media reports, the police chargesheet presented in the court said the athlete is a male, according to her medical report by a board of doctors, and she is capable of penetrative sex with a woman.
A board of doctors at state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata earlier performed medical tests on Pinki.
The victim and Pinki´s live-in partner, Anamika, claimed that the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medal winner is actually a male who tortured and raped her over a period. She said the athlete was terrorizing her for long and had sex by falsely promising to marry her.
The woman in question has reportedly been abandoned by her husband following her proximity to Pinki.
Pinki was arrested and jailed in June this year.
She was granted bail in July in connection to the rape case.
Pinki, now 26, specialises in the 400 metres and 800 metres.
She is a national 4400 metres relay team champion who also won silver at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, gold at the 2006 Asian Games, and gold at the 2005 Asian Indoor Games.
She completed at triple of gold medals at the 2006 South Asian Games, winning the 400 and 800 m events, as well as the relay.
