PM appeals India Inc. not to get distracted

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met with India Inc. on Thursday evening and appealed them not to get distracted by the current economic slowdown.

He met with major business leaders of the country like Narayana Murthy, Ratan Tata., Mukesh Ambani, Sunil B. Mittal, Depak Parekh and many more and requested them not to get panic due to the gloomy business environment.

He appealed business leaders "not to get distracted by the atmosphere of gloom and assured them that he and his government remained committed to the reform agenda as also to help industry achieve its potential."

In the meeting along with business leaders, PM´s Council of Trade and Industry, representatives of Minister of Commerce & Industry, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, Environment & Forests, Chairman and Economic Advisory Council were present.

Industrialists spoke about their plans to invest in new projects in India, and stressed the need to expedite ongoing infrastructure and other mega projects.



In the response the Environment industry assured that Ministry was committed to clarity, consistency, transparency and time bound environmental clearances for industry projects.

Singh told business leaders to be optimistic about the reform in the policies and standard governance for business scenario.
