Mumbai, Aug 18 (IBNS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday met an All Party Delegation on the issue of building a memorial for political leader Babasaheb Ambedkar in Mumbai.
"After hearing the views of the delegation, the Prime Minister said that there are no two views that Dr. Ambedkar was the father of our Constitution and that there should be a grand Memorial for him in Mumbai," said the Prime Minister´s Office (PMO) in a statement.
Singh assured the delegation that the Central Government will do all that is possible to facilitate the construction of such a memorial.
"He said there should be no further loss of time and I will ensure that all possible options are explored and the matter is expedited," said the PMO.
Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly also known as Babasaheb, was an Indian jurist, political leader, philosopher, anthropologist, historian, orator, economist, and editor. He was also the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of Indian Constitution.
