BJP against Cong, not corruption: Sonia

New Delhi: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today addressed a mega rally here at the Ramlila Maidan to highlight the achievements of the UPA Government at the Centre.

"We have done the best for the betterment of common man by bringing about liberalization. We have introduced RTI and w
e have implemented the programme for employment of millions of Indians," said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress leadership is also expected to explain the government's recent moves to open the economy, especially allowing foreign equity in retail despite intense opposition to the move.

The rally sets the agenda for the party's one-day brainstorming session at Surajkund on November 9 in which it plans to discuss current political and economic situation as well as review the implementation of programmes promised in the party manifesto.

This rally also gives a message to party workers down the line, as it will be attended also by district and block presidents from all over the country besides Ministers at the Centre and states, MPs and MLAs and party's central and state office-bearers.

The Congress had earlier maintained that FDI in retail would help farmers and consumers and result in job creation for the youth - the constituencies it would like to address.
