Bangalore: Police have launched an inquiry into an alleged baby selling racket by owner of a private nursing home, who is now being interrogated along with her son.
City Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji today said that police have taken the issue seriously and an inquiry is on. "If found guilty, we will take stringent action", he said.
Police said the accused, Dr Parvin and her son Harsha, who allegedly acted as an intermediary, are being questioned.
The gynecologist was caught red-handed by police yesterday while trying to sell to an infant for money.
She reportedly confessed during a preliminary inquiry by Child Welfare Committee that she had previously sold four babies, but all abandoned by their mothers, since 2004.
