A fresh political storm erupted after the former Director General, Post and Telecommunication at Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), R P Singh disowned the reports on 2G spectrum scam.

R P Singh has said that the report submitted by CAG on 2G-spectrum allocation loss merely carried his signature and the audit was done without guidelines.

He has also alleged Public Account Committee (PAC) Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi of influencing CAG as officials had visited his residence on a holiday to help him prepare the panel's report on the 2G-spectrum allocation.

Minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), V Narayanswany said: "Any chairman of the parliamentary committee has to function in unbiased manner without any political or party consideration. But rejecting the views of the members is very unfortunate. Now the report submitted by him has not been considered in the committee because majority of the members have rejected it."

At the other side, Murli Manohar Joshi rubbished all the allegations levelled by R P Singh and said that it is an attempt to malign the constitutional body.

R P Singh has said that the loss figure of Rs 1.76 lakh crore mentioned in the report was presumptive and had been restored in the final report, despite having been deleted by him in the draft report. (ANI)
