Poll Talkies -17 days to elections

A lot is taking place for Kollywood actors in Poll Talkies. Last Friday, DMDK leader Vijaykanth's latest film Viruthagiri where he plays a James Bond type secret agent was to be re-released at Santosh
theatre in Uthamapalayam in Theni district.

However trouble began when DMK strongman MK Alagiri who was touring the Theni district along with Kushboo on an election campaign (see pic) who saw posters of the Vijaykanth film put up prominently.  He alerted the
district collector about Virudhagiri and said it was poll violation and the film should be stopped.

So after noon show , where 80 per cent of the tickets were sold out, the owners of Santosh Theatre stopped screening the film and replaced it with an original James Bond film Quantum of Solace!

Filmmaker Thankar Bachchan has hit out at freebies offered by both DMK and ADMK fronts. Says a peeved Thankar Bachchan : "The offer of freebies is an insult to one's self-respect. The manifesto of
political parties is devoid of anything worthwhile to improve the economic status of the poor. Instead of offering freebies why can't the government bring total prohibition?"

Meanwhile DMDK high level committee member Dilip Kumar has filed a case against comedian Vadivel in Tiruvarur for having spoken in a derogatory manner against Vijaykanth. At the election meeting
organised by DMK, Vadivel had said:  "One who steers a ship in water should be called Captain and not one who always lies in water (liquor)."

The 'Captain' at his election campaign thundered and threw a challenge to MK Alagiri and asked him to prove his might by contesting against him in Rishivandiyam constituency.

Bhagyaraj has come out with a catchy punchline for DMK election campaign:" Kalaignar Solvadhai Seivaar, Seivadhai Solvaar" (Kalignar does what he promises and promises only what he will do). Bhagyaraj
will tour 19 districts this elections before the grand finale in his home town Coimbatore on the last day of elections.
