A Delhi court on Thursday extended the police custody of former chairman of Uttarakhand Minorities Commission Sukhdev Singh Namdhari by three days, in connection to the shootout that killed liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep.
Namdhari has been booked for the murder of Hardeep under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Namdhari, whose five-day police custody ended on Thursday, was produced before the court.
Meanwhile, his lawyer claimed the allegations levelled against him were ´baseless´.
The court on Nov 24 sent Namdhari to a five-day police custody in connection with the shootout.
The Delhi Police on Nov 23 arrested him after questioning him at his farmhouse at Bazpur city in Uttarakhand.
Namdhari was removed from the minorities commission post by the state government this week following his involvement in the incident.
Ponty and his brother Hardeep were killed in a shootout between their groups inside their farmhouse at Chattarpur in south Delhi on Nov 17.
Ponty´s business empire is worth Rs 6000 crore.
