Three ministers in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled Karnataka government, who were caught on TV watching pornography inside the Assembly on Tuesday, resigned on Wednesday.

The ministers are Karnataka Co-operation Minister Laxman Savadi, Women and Child Welfare Minister CC Patil and Minister for Ports and Science and Technology Krishna Palemar.

The disgraced ministers said they were resigning for the sake of the party´s image.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has accepted their resignation even as Congress demanded that they should be arrested for the shameless act since it is a violation of law.

"It is shameful to political class. BJP has no political accountability. Resignation is not enough. They should be arrested for violating the cyber law," said Congress leader and Union Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily.

BJP central leadership also reacted.

"They ministers have come under cloud and they have now resigned. They will be investigated by the competent authority. If it has happened it is very worrying," said Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP spokesperson.

She, however, reminded that no one should resort to moral policing and Congress itself was also caught in such incidents, including one inside the Raj Bhavan.

The ministers were reportedly caught on camera watching the sleazy content on their mobile phones inside the Assembly.

The ministers were caught watching the porn content by a local news channel that was covering the Assembly proceedings.

The ministers defended themselves saying they were watching a video of a rave party where women were raped since the house was discussing a similar issue.
