Michael Griffin scored 16 points and Prairie View rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to defeat Mississippi Valley State 59-54 on Saturday night.
Griffin made 9 of 10 free throws, including two with 12 seconds left that gave the Panthers (7-19, 4-9 Southwestern) a 57-54 lead. Trant Simpson and Brandon Webb added 13 points each for Prairie View, which lost to MVSU 96-63 on Jan. 22.
Orlando Smith led the Delta Devils (11-16, 10-4) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. D'Angelo Jackson had 14 points and Paul Crosby scored 12.
Prairie View trailed by as many as 12 in the second half and was behind 49-40 with 7:58 remaining when the Panthers started their rally. They finished the game with a 19-5 run.
