New Delhi, July 3 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the United States of America on the occasion of the Independence Day of United States of America (July 4).

In a message to US President Barack Obama, Mukherjee said, "On behalf of Government and the people of India, I have the pleasure to extend warm greetings and felicitations to the Government and citizens of the United States of America on your 237th Independence Day."

"This is an occasion when we are reminded of the shared values of democracy, pluralism, equality, liberty and rule of law that form the bedrock of the global strategic partnership between India and the United States of America."

He said: "Our bilateral cooperation, in virtually every sphere of human endeavour, has been to the mutual benefit of both our peoples. Indeed, our strategic partnership contributes significantly to the global security and economic architecture."

"India shares the view that this relationship will be a defining partnership of the 21st century. We remain committed to working closely with the United States of America to realize this vision.

"I take this opportunity to convey my best wishes for your personal well being and the continued progress and prosperity of the people of the United States of America," said Mukherjee.
