New Delhi: The Press Council has received 30 complaints of "Paid News" against newspapers in the country since 2009.
A majority of the cases have been closed for "non pursuance" by complainants, a written reply given by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting to Jaywantrao Awale and K J S P Reddy in the Lok Saba said today.
Some of the complaints have been reported as "matter ripe for listing before the Inquiry Committee of the Council" while in some cases show cause notices have been issued.
The Minister said a Group of Ministers on Paid News has deliberated on the issue in its first meeting held on Sept 7 this year.
The GoM has not not yet submitted its report and no time limit has been specified submission of its report to the government.
