Priyanka Gandhi, the star campaigner for the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday expressed hope of the party winning all seats from their family bastion, Amethi, in the ongoing state assembly polls.

"We have received good reports from Amethi and we are hopeful of getting all the three seats," Priyanka told the media here.

When asked to comment on reports about her brother and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi's tearing a piece of paper symbolising the election manifesto of the Samajwadi Party (SP), she said that to the best of her knowledge, it was not the election manifesto.

While addressing an election rally in the state earlier, Rahul Gandhi tore a piece of paper emphasizing that merely a list of assurances was not enough.

Priyanka further said that in last 22 years, the people in Uttar Pradesh have given chance to different political parties, but in return they received anarchy and corruption instead of development.

"People are fed up of fake promises; they want work and development. Go and ask people what they want. The public understands who all make false promises," she said.

On being asked about Rahul Gandhi's marriage plans, Priyanka said like every sister, she also wanted to see him married soon.

"If I would have known when is he going to marry, then I would have told you? How would I know? Every sister wants his brother to get married soon," said Priyanka.

The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.

A new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
