London: The Russian president Vladimir Putin has reportedly said that the US authorities have in effect trapped the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden at the Russian airport.

Putin said that US has spooked all the other countries and nobody wants to take Snowden and ultimately the US has itself blocked him on Russian territory, BBC reports.

According to the report, Snowden has been offered asylum by Latin American countries, however, without any documents he cannot leave the transit zone of Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport.

Although Putin has made it clear that Russia will not hand over Snowden to US, but has asked him to stop leaking secrets about the alleged US snooping program.

The report further added Putin saying that there were signs that Snowden was 'changing his position' on leaking about US programs.

Snowden in a press conference said that he was seeking temporary asylum in Russia before being ensured of a 'safe passage' to Latin America. However, Moscow officials have denied having received any such request, the report added.
