Queen Elizabeth to launch her Diamond Jubilee tour

London, Feb 19 (IBNS) Her Majesty The Queen of United Kingdom Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip will visit Hindu Krishna-Avanti Primary School in Edgware in Greater London on the first day of her Diamond Jubilee tour on March 29.

According to reports, the events on the occasion at this Hindu school will include unveiling a commemorative tapestry, watching a "community spectacular" stage show including dance and music, and a photography exhibition.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) on Sunday, said that Hindu community in UK and the world was honored by the Queen's gesture of launching her Diamond Jubilee tour with a visit to the Britain´s first state-funded Hindu school.

In 2010, Queen Elizabeth, who is Supreme Governor of the Church of England, acknowledged contributions of "all faiths" while inaugurating Ninth General Synod of the Church on England in Westminster (UK). In 2009, Queen hosted Bollywood and Bhangra dances at Buckingham Palace in London.

Queen had already watched the Bollywood dancing during a visit to Bradford (UK) in the past. In 2002, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Highgate Hill Murugan Hindu Temple in North London.

Diamond Jubilee celebrations will mark 60 years of The Queen´s reign who came to the throne on February six, 1952 and her coronation took place on June two, 1953.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be visiting England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland during this year to mark her Diamond Jubilee.

Krishna-Avanti Primary School, established in 2008, claims to provide "a world class learning environment that incorporates Vedic teachings" and is "inspired by the teachings of the Bhagavad-Gita" and centered on loving service to Lord Krishna.

Edgware is one of the major Jewish enclaves within Greater London and prominent people associated with Edgware include actresses Archie Panjabi, Eleanor Bron, Charlotte McDonagh and Shirley Eaton; and jazz pianist Victor Feldman.
