Bihar Govt. and Raj Thakrey playing politics: Nirupam

Mumbai: Alleging that Hindi news channels were 'distorting' his statements, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today said that they should not air the news without understanding the issues.

Speaking at a party meeting here today, Thackeray said that "I want to tell the Hindi news channel to first understand the issue before it is broadcast... otherwise we know how to stop it,".

The MNS leader's reaction comes after some Hindi news channels and leaders of JD(U), RJD and BJP from Bihar attacked him for his remarks on August 31 that he would brand Biharis as infiltrators and make them leave Maharashtra.

"Why do all criminals flee to states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand after committing crime here," he asked and commented that governments from these states should introspect over it.

"Even Centre should think over the issue," he said.

Raj also ridiculed Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh's claim that the Thackerays migrated from Bihar to Maharashtra.

He asked when the Maharashtra government and the police would make registration compulsory for migrants entering the state, adding that as many as 48 trains from Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh come to the state daily.

"Who knows how many people enter the state daily. There is no track record of their activities," he said.

Wondering how Home minister R R Patil had no knowledge about the letter sent by Bihar DGP to Mumbai Police Commissioner in connection with the arrest of a youth from Bihar for vandalising a memorial here, the MNS leader said that Patil did not understand his department.

"Mumbai Police Commissioner has received a letter from Bihar DG but Patil says he has no knowledge of it. This is the reason why I am demanding his resignation. Patil does not understand the home department," he said.
