After receiving a clean chit from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the murder of Kunda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zia-ul-Haq, former Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya on Thursday said that he had been framed in the conspiracy.

Addressing the media here today, Raja Bhaiya said that the CBI has cleared his name after five months of rigorous interrogation.

"I was called to Delhi for a polygraph test and CBI questioned me for 8 hours. My biggest happiness is that India's prime investigating agency, after five months of rigorous interrogation, has given its report stating that I am completely innocent," he said.

"It's my bad luck that whenever something happens in Kunda I am blamed for it," he added.

Raja Bhaiya also said that the murder of Kunda DSP Zia-ul-Haq was a conspiracy against him.

The CBI earlier in the day filed a "technical" closure report in a Lucknow Court, in the FIR filed by Haq's wife Parveen Azad in which she had accused Raja Bhaiya of conspiring to murder the officer.

Raja Bhaiya resigned from the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet after the wife of Zia-ul-Haq alleged that he was responsible for the murder of her husband. He was then the state"s food and civil supplies minister.

Zia-ul-Haq was shot dead on March 2 in Balipur village in Kunda area of Pratapgarh district where he had gone to probe murder of village head Nanhe Yadav. (ANI)
