Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Wednesday condoled the death of Indian film actor Rajesh Khanna.
In a special message, Ashraf said Rajesh Khanna was a ´great actor whose contribution to the field of films and arts would be long remembered´.
He said Khanna had a ´large fan following across the borders and he captivated the audience with his excellent acting skills´.
Pakistani actors also condoled the death of Bollywood´s first superstar.
Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar tweeted: "Rajesh Khanna- R.I.P. So many fond memories from his movies and songs."
"Rajesh g was great legend, it is a big loss for the film industry," Pak actor Meera posted on Twitter.
Khanna passed away in his Mumbai residence on Wednesday after prolonged illness. According to reports, he was battling cancer. He was 69.
His last rites will be performed at 11 am on Thursday.
Khanna gave India several memorable films that included ´Kati Patang´, ´Amar Prem´, ´Shehzada´, ´Apna Desh´, ´Mere Jeevan Saathi´, ´Aap Ki Kasam´, ´Ajnabee´, ´Namak Haraam´, ´Maha Chor´, ´Karm´, ´Phir Wohi Raat´, ´Aanchal´, ´Kudrat´, ´Ashanti´, ´Agar Tum Na Hote´, ´Awaaz, Hum Dono´ , ´Anand´ and ´Alag Alag´.
He had 15 consecutive solo superhits between 1969 to 1971, which is still an unbroken record in Indian film history.
