Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh on Tuesday appealed to the Centre to take cognisance of Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik sharing stage with 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed very seriously.
"I believe that the Government of India should take cognisance of this incident very seriously. And the Indian Government should hold talks with Pakistan through diplomatic channels so that incidents such as these do not take place in the future," said Singh.
" This precaution should also be taken while granting the visa and if any person linked to any organisation is coming then his activities should also be monitored," he told media here," he added.
Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur has also condemned the incident.
"When an Indian meets a terrorist, we condemn this," she told media in Patiala.
Malik, a moderate Hurriyat leader, was on a hunger strike over the weekend in Islamabad to protest against the execution of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Hafiz Saeed also joined him on the stage.
According to certain media reports, the government is now considering to seize Malik's passport on grounds of national security. A probe would also be conducted into Malik's visit to Pakistan and he will be questioned by the security agencies as soon as he returns to India. (ANI)
