Ranbir 'Barfi' Kapoor turns 30

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who has received immense appreciation for his performance in recently released film 'Barfi', turned 30 on Friday.

Bollywood actor Dia Mirza wished Ranbir and tweeted: "Happy Birthday to our Darling "Barfi" Ranbir Kapoor!!! We love you!!!"

Filmmaker Karan Johar wished the ´Rockstar´ actor and tweeted: "Wishing the super talented Ranbir Kapoor a very happy birthday!!! More power to him!!"

Ranbir is the grandson of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor and son of actor Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh.



´Barfi´, which has received mixed response from critics but touched the hearts of movie goers at large, has also been selected as India´s official entry for the Oscars "Best Foreign Language Film" category.

Ranbir had started his career as an assistant director under Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

He made his acting debut with the film 'Saawariya'.

The film was not successful at the box office but Ranbir won the Filmfare Award in the category of ´Best Male Debut´.

After ´Saawariya', the actor was seen playing different kinds of characters in films like 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', 'Wake Up Sid', 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', and 'Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year'.

In Ayan Mukerji´s ´Wake Up Sid´, he portrayed the character of ´Siddharth Mehra´, a happy-go-lucky and self-centered college student from Mumbai with the talented Konkona Sen Sharma in the female lead.

Indian movie buffs saw Ranbir playing a serious character in director Prakash Jha´s political thriller ´Raajneeti´.

Both critics and audience appreciated him for playing the character of ´Samar Pratap´ in the film.

He also starred in Imtiaz Ali´s 'Rockstar', which earned him his very first Fimlfare Award in the category of ´Best Actor´.

Ranbir will be next seen in Ayan Mukerji´s ´Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani´ opposite ex-flame Deepika Padukone. The film is likely to hit threatres next year.
