Ranchi court sentences 61 to jail for role in fodder scam

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi has sent 61 persons to jail for their role in fodder scam.

The chargesheet for the case which was initially filed against a total of 73 accused persons for fraudulent withdrawal of Rs.14,40,95, 401 from Jamshedpur Treasury during the time period of 1991-95 only 61 were convicted as five persons had died during the trial and four were made approvers.

The remaining three were either discharged during trail or remained absconding. One person had already pleaded guilty in the case.

This was the 39th case disposed off from trial by the Special Court at Ranchi. (ANI)
