Ranji: UP take lead over Delhi

Mukul Dagar scored a century as he helped Uttar Pradesh take first innings lead against Delhi on the second day of their Ranji Trophy match at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.

Uttar Pradesh scored 292 runs for the loss six wickets at stumps on day two, leading Delhi by 57 runs.

Dagar hit 14 boundaries in his 214-ball knock.

Mohammad Kaif, who along with Dagar started the proceedings for Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning, hit a patient knock of 91 runs. He scored eleven boundaries a six in the innings.

Suresh Raina (19*) and Amir Khan (4*) were at the crease at the end of second day´s play.

Delhi bowlers bowled well in the last session of the day.

Sumit Narwal picked up three wickets for Delhi while Ishant Sharma scalped two wickets.

Openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir failed to score significant runs with their bats as Delhi were all out for 235 runs on day one of their Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

Sehwag scored 25 runs while Gambhir returned to the pavilion after contributing 32 runs in the first innings.

Unmukt Chand (28) Virat Kohli (14) dissapointed their fans with the willows.

Puneet Bisht remained the top scorer for Delhi with his 52 runs while Mithun Manhas contributed 42 runs.

Imtiaz Ahmed made five wickets for Uttar Pradesh by giving away 59 runs.

Seamer Praveen Kumar scalped three wickets in the innings.
