Rapist who left minor victim on rail track held

Ghaziabad, Feb 11 (IANS) A man who raped an eight-year-old girl last week and left her on a railway track in Ghaziabad to die was arrested Saturday, police said.

Feroz, 21, a resident of Kaila Bhatta, was arrested from Hapur.

The minor victim had a narrow escape on the track after the Feb 4 rape as she remained unhurt despite several trains passing over her.

Feroz told police that he dragged the girl to his house and raped her there. After committing the crime he dumped the girl on the track.

"We have collected all forensic evidence. The girl has recovered and would be able to give her statement in court," said the Circle Officer-I Rajesh Bharti.
