Relief for DMK: Madras HC gives go-ahead for Eelam meet

Chennai: The Madras High Court on Sunday gave DMK permission to hold the public meeting on the Tamil Eelam issue.

The Chennai Police had earlier denied permission to hold the public meeting.

The Madras High court heard the plea on Sunday filed by the DMK against the Chennai police's refusal to allow the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) meeting at the YMCA grounds.

The entire meet is being seen as a desperate attempt by the DMK to assert itself as a champion of the Tamil cause in the hope of regaining its lost ground in Tamil Nadu.
