Allahabad High Court on Monday dismissed all petitions against former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati in the Taj Mahal corridor case.

The petitioners had accused Mayawati of embezzling Rs 17 crore in a project to develop the area around Taj Mahal and provide better tourist facilities when she was chief minister.

The PILs had challenged a special CBI court order that had dropped proceedings against her.

"The petitioner filed objections against the CBI court´s order. The objections were politically motivated as the cases were filed by people who were contesting elections and had lost to BSP," Mayawati´s lawyer Satish Mishra said.

This case against Mayawati was filed in 2003. The CBI dropped its probe in 2007 because the governor of the state did not sanction her prosecution.
