Officials from the Uruguayan president's office say the latest set of remains uncovered at a military installation are those of a teacher who disappeared in 1977.

They say the remains found on Oct. 21 are those of Julio Castro. A national peace commission determined that Castro was detained on Aug. 1, 1977, and taken to a clandestine center where he was tortured and died.

The officials say the remains were identified through DNA tests. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to release the information.

Castro was a member of the Uruguayan press association and a teachers union activist.

His are the third set of remains found of 30 people who disappeared during Uruguay's 1973-1985 dictatorship.
