The 24-year old leader of the Patidar reservation agitation (Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti) found himself mired in a controversy when a local channel released a video of him with a woman in a hotel room.
Patel accused the ruling BJP of spying on him and making these CDs to weaken his hold on the Patidar community.
Commenting on clip, Patel said it was the beginning of dirty politics and the BJP would release many more such "morphed" videos to defame him ahead of polls.
"The BJP wants to retain power by defaming me," he said.
