Princes William and Harry have pledged their support to a new charity for helping former servicemen and women ease back into everyday life after serving on the front line.

The royal brothers have pledged their support to the Forces In Mind Trust, a partnership of UK forces charities and mental health organisations which has been backed by 35 million pounds of funding from the Big Lottery Fund, the Daily Express reported.

The trust will provide support and advice over the next 20 years to soldiers suffering from poor mental health, family breakdown, social exclusion and addiction-related problems as they adjust to everyday living.

It will also support veterans in finding new training and employment and provide them with financial advice and help them with housing.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will mark its launch at the UK premiere of War Horse in London's Leicester Square on Sunday night.

The Royal couple will be joined by 600 serving and former military personnel and their families at the star-studded event, in aid of the Princes' charitable foundation, of which Kate is also a patron.

The Foundation of Prince William and Harry will back the new Trust with grants over a three-year programme to help raise awareness of the issues facing veterans and carry out research on the best ways to support their transition to civilian life.

"We are incredibly excited about this partnership with Forces in Mind," Nick Booth, the Foundation's chief executive, said.

"Taking a direct lead from our patrons, the Foundation is committed to ensuring those who have given so much serving their country in the Armed Forces are, in turn, given as much support as they and their families need to reintegrate into civilian society.

"We hope the Foundation's involvement and resources will further allow the Forces in Mind Trust to become a major new source of support and leadership in this incredibly important sector," he added.

William and Harry set up their Foundation in 2009 to help their charitable ambitions and earmarked veterans' causes for support from the start. (ANI)
