Passing of the crucial Lokpal Bill got further delayed as the Rajya Sabha on Friday approved an extension of the Lokpal Select Committee till the winter session of the Parliament.
The Upper House of the Parliament on Friday adopted a motion seeking extension of time for the Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha on the Lokpal and the Lokayukta Bill, 2011 to present its report.
The motion adopted by the Rajya Sabha sought extension of time for the Select Committee till the last day of the first week of the winter session.
Pertinently, the term of the panel was scheduled to end on September 3.
Samajwadi Party (SP) general secretary Ramgopal Yadav on Friday said the committee´s tenure was extended because its members wanted to hold more discussions on the issue.
The ongoing monsoon session of the Parliament will end on September 7.
