Despite their parting of ways in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the centre, Congress said it would ensure the re-election of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Kanimozhi to the Rajya Sabha for a second term.
Kanimozhi had on June 15 filed nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu. Her term ends in July.
Media reports said Congress in return might get the support of DMK to pass the Food Security Bill in Parliament.
Kanimozhi is the daughter of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi.
J Jayalalithaa´s ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu has fielded five candidates for the polls.
