The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has restored the pension of former Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) SPS Rathore who was convicted in connection to the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case.
A division bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) which is headed by Justice S D Anand ordered to restore the pension of the convicted former DGP.
The Centre had stopped the pension of Rathore in June last year after Chandigarh Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court had sentenced him six months of rigorous imprisonment and Rs. 1,000 as fine in December 2009 for molesting young Ruchika in 1990.
Ruchika had committed suicide three years later.
The decision of restoring the pension of Rathore has reportedly shocked Ruchika´s family and friends.
Earlier, challenging the decision of the Central government, Rathore had pleaded in his petition that his pension was stopped by the Centre on a permanent basis without mentioning any weighty reason.
