President Barack Obama received a surprise endorsement from another Hollywood star over the weekend.
In a tweet on Sunday, New-Zealand born actor Russell Crowe appeared making an unusual argument that a vote for Obama meant 'going towards the light'.
"Villagers, I don't endorse politicians. Not my thing. However, Obama is the light and the future. Keep going towards the light. Put America first," the 'Gladiator' star tweeted.
"Complex time for the world. America needs to continue the Global awareness that Obama has set. A healthy America means a healthy planet," he added.
According to Politico, after making the political statement, Crowe was called an 'idiot' and a "typical Hollywood clown" by some angry followers who disagreed.
"It's sad enough when ambitious celebrities like@russellcrowe refuse to speak out against evil. But to actually endorse it is shameful," one person wrote.
"You have no idea what you just said, do you?" another follower tweeted, adding: "Just 100%, Grade A, USDA Choice leftist bull---. Typical Hollywood clown."
"I'm going to leave all the abusive tweets up on my time line because I think it tells its' own story," Crowe later wrote.
"I'm 48 years old, a tax payer and a union member. I don't care if you don't agree with my opinion, I'm still going to have my opinion," he added. (ANI)
