Moscow, Nov 28 (IANS) A volcano in Russia, which last erupted in 1976, has again begun spewing ash.
The 3,085−metre−high Plosky Tolbachik volcano, in Russia's far eastern Kamchatka peninsula, erupted Tuesday evening, spewing a column of ash to a height of about seven km, Xinhua reported.
As the lava flowed down the volcano's southern slope, the ash fell in the villages of Maiskoye and Krasny Yar, forming an ash layer of about four cm.
An alert was issued due to the eruption, but did not pose a hazard to the people in the area.
The volcano is part of the Klyuchevsky group of volcanoes in Kamchatka.
