Families of 130 people who died in a hostage crisis at a Moscow theater 10 years ago are holding a candle-lit ceremony outside the venue where Chechen militants held 912 audience members for three days.

Survivors and families of the victims lit 130 candles and laid 130 red carnations Friday morning on the steps of the Dubrovka theater in southeast Moscow.

Russian security officers stormed the building, which hosted the Nord-Ost musical on October 26, 2002, killing all of the 40 terrorists. But the storming also left 130 audience members dead. Their families insist that they died from the opiate gas pumped in the building before it was stormed by troops. Authorities have rejected that accusation, and said they died because of inadequate medical help.
