Indian Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology Sachin Pilot on Monday released a commemorative postage stamp on Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on the occasion of golden Jubilee of the force.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister said that he is proud to be a part of the historic event.
Commemorative postage stamps are issued to highlight a country's achievements in various spheres like science and technology, defence as well as its progress in socio-economic sector, said officials.
Pilot said, "The country's rich cultural heritage is also showcased through stamps and many beautiful stamps have been issued in thematic sets on art, architecture, crafts, maritime heritage, science, technology, defence, and cinema."
"Leaders of national and international stature and repute have also been honoured with commemorative stamps. The significant role of ITBPF in the security of our nation is being recognised by issuing this stamp."
ITBP Force was conceived on Oct 24, 1962 under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Act in the wake of the Chinese conflict.
