Kolkata, April 23 (IANS) The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Tuesday said that whatever the West Bengal government has done so far in the chit fund mess was "not sufficient" and asked for an assurance that the interests of the depositors will be safeguarded.

"The measures that Chief Minster Mamata Banerjee has announced is not sufficient. The foremost step that should be taken now is that the property of the group be confiscated, move to the court and pay the depositors from there under the existing laws," said Leader of Opposition Surjya Kant Mishra here.

Mishra also said that union Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot had provided, to parliament, a list of 73 companies indulged in 'Ponzi' schemes and demanded action against them.

"Since the central minister have given this list, it is necessary to take actions against them. It is possible to be alert so that they don't flee or indulge in illegal transfer of funds. And the depositors don't have to face this situation," said Mishra.

In the wake of the arrests of Saradha Group promoter Sudipta Sen and two hisassociates, Mishra also urged they be kept secure.

Sen and his his aides - Debjani Mukherjee and Arvind Singh Chauhan were arrested Tuesday from Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir.
