Salem moves court in Mumbai blasts case

Mumbai, Jan 17 (IANS) Gangster Abu Salem moved a special court here seeking immediate closure of his ongoing trial in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, his lawyer said.

The application was moved by Salem's counsel Rashid Ansari before Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court Special Judge G.A. Sanap after Portugal's Supreme Court ruled that his extradition to India was illegal.

"With regard to the Portuguese Supreme Court verdict, we have moved an application seeking closure of trial as continuing it will be illegal," Ansari said.
