New Delhi, Feb 10 (IBNS) Trust Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid to shoot his mouth and land his party Congress in embarrassments.

On Friday, another Congress sharp shooter with words, Digvijaya Singh, disputed Khurshid´s claims at a rally at Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh a day ago that party supremo Sonia Gandhi was in tears when she was shown the images of the Batla House encounter in which terrorists were killed.

Khurshid was trying to woo the Muslim voters apparently on the last day of campaigning (Feb 9) for the second phase of polls on Feb 11 in Uttar Pradesh but his words sparked a strong reaction.

Digvijaya Singh said Friday: "Soniaji never cried. These are the words of Salman Khurshid."

Batla House encounter, officially known as Operation Batla House, took place on Sep 19 2008, against suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists in Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi, in which two suspected terrorist, Atif Amin and Mohamed Sajid were killed while two other suspects Mohd Saif and Zeeshan were arrested, while one accused Ariz Khan managed to escape.

Salman Khurshid was quick to deny that he said Sonia was moved to tears though he was caught in electronic media saying so.

He said his remarks were used out of context and that Sonia was emotional and not had refused to see the images.

The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was quick to react.

BJP leader Vinay Katiyar slammed the Congress and said "It is a shame if Congress supremo is moved to tears at the deaths of terrorists."

Khurshid was earlier reprimanded by the Election Commission for his Muslim quota remarks to woo minority voters in Uttar Pradesh.

With 18 percent of voters in Uttar Pradesh belonging to the minority community, there is a mad rush among the political parties to woo the Muslims.
