Rio De Janeiro, Nov 4 (IANS) Brazilian top-flight football club Santos has held talks with Paris St. Germain winger Nene about a possible move in the January transfer window.
Nene has lost his place in Carlo Ancelotti's preferred starting line-up and has fallen out with the club's football director Leonardo, Xinhua reported.
With his contract due to expire in the coming weeks, the 31-year-old will be allowed to leave the French outfit in January on a free transfer.
Santos is understood to be facing competition for the player from a number of European clubs, including English Premier League outfit Arsenal.
Santos vice-president Odilio Rodrigues said the club had yet to make a formal offer to Nene.
"We're not negotiating with him but we are aware that he is available because he informed us of his situation," Rodrigues said.
Nene played for Santos in the 2002 season, scoring eight goals in 25 appearances.
