The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the bail plea of YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case, forcing him to remain in jail in Hyderabad for a longer period.
A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Hyderabad on Sept 25 had extended the judicial custody of Reddy till Oct 9 in connection with the disproportionate assets case.
The CBI had arrested Jagan on May 27.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court ordered a CBI probe into Jagan´s wealth on Aug 11, 2011 after Congress leader P Shankar Rao filed a written petition in Nov 2010 seeking it, terming his property as "ill-gotten".
Jagan Mohan Reddy has alleged that he was being hounded out for challenging the Congress party from which he broke off to form his own party after falling out with Sonia Gandhi.
Jagan´s father YSR Reddy, who was a Congress strongman and chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, died in a helicopter crash in 2009.
