Senior Pakistani journalist and anchor, Hamid Mir, has escaped an attempt on his life after explosives planted under his car were defused, on Monday.
The explosives were found inside a bag, which was planted under the car. A neighbour's driver discovered the bag upon Mir's return, who had gone to a nearby market, reports The Express Tribune.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to check the bag, which contained half a kilogram of defused explosive material, a battery, a detonator and ball bearings.
Last year, Mir had revealed that he had been receiving threats.
Reporters without Borders had earlier stated that Pakistan was the world's deadliest country for journalists for the second year running. According to their 2011-12 Press Freedom Index, Pakistan had ranked 151 out of 179 countries. (ANI)
