Sex attack: Strauss-Kahn, maid settle lawsuit

Former managing director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Dominique Strauss-Kahn and a hotel maid on Monday settled her civil lawsuit over sexual assault allegations against him.

New York State Supreme Court in the Bronx, Justice Douglas McKeon, said details of the settlement will remain confidential.

Kahn on Monday stayed in Paris while the housekeeper Nafissatou Diallo was present at the court.

In a brief statement outside the courthouse, Diallo said: "I thank everyone who supported me all over the world...I thank God, and God bless you all."

Strauss-Kahn´s New York lawyers, William Taylor and Amit Mehta, said in a statement: "On behalf of Mr. Strauss-Kahn, we are pleased to have arrived at a resolution of this matter. We are grateful to Judge McKeon whose patience and forbearance allowed this agreement to be formulated."

A scandal erupted on 2011 when Kahn was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting the maid of a Manhattan hotel.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police took out Kahn from an Air France plane at the John F. Kennedy airport after he allegedly tried to rape the hotel maid.

He was arrested and charged with attempted rape and other crimes.

The charges against him were later dropped after New York City prosecutors expressed concerns about Diallo´s credibility.

Diallo earlier told the police that Kahn came out naked from the bathroom and forced her to perform oral sex in his hotel room in Manhattan.

Kahn resigned as head of the IMF last year following allegations of the sexual assault.
