New Delhi: West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra was allegedly heckled and manhandled by Students' Federation of India (SFI) activists in New Delhi on Tuesday, said media reports.

The SFI is the student wing of the state's opposition Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

The incident reportedly happened when Mitra and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were entering the Yojana Bhawan, which is the office of the Planning Commission in the national capital.

Banerjee and Mitra went to the Planning Commission to meet its Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

The SFI activists were protesting against the death of their leader Sudipto Gupta in Kolkata on Apr 2.

Sudipto died during a police action at SFI's law violation protest in Kolkata.

Benerjee is currently visiting the national capital and she will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later in the day.
