New Delhi: Reacting to Shashi Tharoor's 'Hindu Pakistan' remark, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy said, "There is some problem with his mental balance. Especially after the chargesheet was filed against him on Sunanda's untimely and unnatural death. Because he recently penned a book explaining 'Why am I a Hindu'"
Swamy said that the way Tharoor used the term Hindu in a blanketed way along with Pakistan is bizarre. He questioned about what has happened to the fact that Tharoor is a Hindu.
"How do we create a Pakistan?" he asked. "Either we do away with the Constitution, or we amend it in such a manner that it becomes a Pakistan type of a Constitution."
Lambasting the Congress for Tharoor's remark, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "This is not only demeaning India, this is also defaming the Hindus of the country. I'm astonished to say that the same Congress party which was responsible for the creation of Pakistan -- because of the ambitions of the first family of the Congress party -- today, is talking in such a manner. Mr Rahul Gandhi should apologise for this."
The tone and tenor of Tharoor's words have caused waves of outrage across the country. He had said, "If the BJP win a repeat in the Lok Sabha our democratic constitution as we understand it will not survive as they will have all the elements they need to tear apart the Constitution of India and write a new one."
