Mumbai: Sheetal Mafatlal, President ofMafatlal Luxury, was today detained upon arrival at Mumbaiinternational airport for allegedly carrying undisclosedjewellery and diamonds worth several lakhs of rupees, customofficials said here today.
The jewellery and diamonds could be worth between Rs 51lakh and one crore, Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) sources said,adding that exact valuation is yet to be ascertained.
Acting on a tip off, the AIU officials intercepted thenoted socialite at the airport and checked her bags in whichthe jewellery and diamonds, which was allegedly not declared,were found, officials said.
She was subsequently detained and her interrogation ison, they said.
