Sheila Dikshit thanks people

New Delhi: As her party inched towards victory in Delhi, a jubilant Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday thanked people for showing their affection and strong belief in the Congress government in the national capital.

“It is great and I whole-heartedly thank the Delhi people for showing their affection and belief in the party. We will work harder to keep up to your (people) expectations,” Dikshit told reporters at her official residence at 3, Motilal Nehru Marg.

Dikshit, however, parried queries about her being sworn in as Delhi's next chief minister. “Let's see, as it is the party high command that will take a call on it,” Dikshit added waving signs of victory.

Celebrations are in full swing at Dikshit's residence as party workers thronged the Moti Lal Nehru Marg. Senior Congress leader Karan Singh was one of the first persons to drive to Dikshit's residence and congratulate her.
