Chennai: Authorities detained a ship at the Chennai port on Thursday because radioactive substances might be aboard it, officials said on Friday.
The ship, M V Garland, is currently anchored two nautical miles off the Chennai coast.
According to media reports, scientists from the Kalpakkam Atomic Power Station are being rushed to the spot. They are expected to reach the ship by Friday night.
However, this might as well be a false alarm, said a Times Now report.
