At long last BJP has said that it was prepared to tender apology to the Muslim community of India. BJP's President Mr Rajnath Singh said if Muslims want he and his party were ready to tender apology to the 200 million strong Muslim community in India.
The first thought that hit me was the reaction of the Muslim leadership in the country. I thought there will be many people who would come forward and try to discuss within the community and outside about the opportunity that this offer has given to them.
But to be true so far Muslims haven't done anything except laughing at the offer of apology and trying to ridicule what BJP chief said.
There is no doubt that BJP seems desperate to win Muslims' support in the forthcoming general election and win the largest number of seats if not an outright majority that is going to elude it and also the Congress Party.
It is an irony that the Indian Muslim community is effectively devoid of sane and seasoned leaders who have the interest of community in their minds.
What we have in the name of leadership are individuals with very limited or no trust of the community or religious organizations that clearly lack the political acumen to hold serious dialogues with anyone.
Muslims have dozens of grouses against Mr Narendra Modi, and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) headed by Mr Rajnath Singh and their parent party Rashtria Sawyamsewak Sangh (RSS) and several of its sister organizations like VHP etc.
Muslims have forgotten many follies of RSS but the Gujarat riots of 2002 and Babri Basjid demolition in the year 1992 seem to have made them loath to BJP and RSS overtures.
