Vadodara: A sitting member from the Dabhoi assembly constituency and former president of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Siddharth Patel filed his nomination paper on Monday for the assembly seat in Dabhoi town in the district.
Patel and a large number of his supporters took out a huge procession and went to the returning officers office for filing his paper.
Meanwhile, GPCC observer Vijay Kella rushed to the city on Monday to listen to local Congress party workers who have been protesting against the Congress party agreeing to give the Akota assembly seat from Vadodara to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) under the seat sharing agreement between the Congress and NCP.
Several Congress party workers have resigned from the primary membership of the party against allotting Akota seat to the NCP which has no base in the city.
Official Congress party sources also requested NCP state unit president Jayant Patel alias 'Boski' to withdraw its candidate from Akota seat after protest from local Congress party workers.
