Six militant groups active in Assam : Govt

Guwahati, Dec 16 (IBNS) : Assam government on Monday revealed that six militant groups are active in the state.

In the winter session of state assembly, which started from Monday, the state government said six militant groups are presently active in the state.

The state government said the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent), National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit), Kamatapur Liberation Organization, Karbi People's Liberation Tiger, Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam and Harkat-ul-Mujahidin (Assam) are active in the state.

The state government also said that 13 outfit groups came into peace process and their cadres in several designated camps.

The government said that 1580 rape cases have been so far registered in the police stations across the state this year.

In 2012, 1716 rape cases were registered in the state.
